Within this context I interpret cringe as vulnerability.
Being vulnerable means owning the cringy things that make you human.
Here are some examples from some brands I’ve seen growing well recently:
A healthy eating and lifestyle blogger who owns “having the appetite of a horse”
A membership area for business owners to network who see themselves as “quiet” or “shy” or “not good at networking usually”
Finance management services from someone who openly admits they used to be terrible with money and had to get themselves out of a lot of debt
You see what I mean? By owning the “cringe” part that might bring up an element of shame, you successfully connect with an audience of people that feel the same (and also remove the shame in the process!).
